Program Overview
The National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science & Technology (NCSSSMST) and The Keystone Center have formed a partnership to involve NCSSSMST schools in an exciting new collaborative research project, The Keystone Center Policy Summit. The Summit, scheduled for June 20-26, 2004, will involve 35 students and 10 teachers from 10 Consortium schools. It will take place at The Keystone Center and Science School in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
This project with The Keystone Center in Keystone, Colorado will provide outstanding learning opportunities in the areas of environmental sciences and research for students. Students involved in this innovative cutting-edge pilot project will be working throughout the 2003-2004 school year. Each participant will develop a research paper on a specific technology used in transportation and analyze the issue through the eyes of a stakeholder group.
The goal of The Keystone Center Policy Summit is to develop a national transportation policy position based on the use of sustainable energy - considering what technologies need to be implemented to formulate a national policy on transportation. At the Summit, students will learn during educational sessions, work with others and present their findings, and also be a part of a facilitated mediation to resolve this issue.
